As a member of the LCAQD District Office team, it can be difficult to be one step removed from some of the difficulties LCAQD congregations are facing. Whether it’s drought (thank you God for the recent rains!), flood, uncertainty about future viability as a congregation or personal grief, we often witness things we can’t fix. Now we are collectively grieving about the violence unleashed in Christchurch. I wonder what I could write that might be encouraging or helpful.
And yet each of us are simply doing our work each day. We might think that we’ve done something amazing and nothing comes of it, and something we think went badly might have a huge impact. So here is some news from the Ministry & Mission team, with a prayer that it will bless you:
We have a new District website! Check it out. The initial impetus for this came from the LCA NSW District, who made a generous grant to the LCA to enable the development of new websites such as ours. Our Strategic Charter 2017-2021 provided a lot of the direction for the content. For example, there is a strong emphasis on how our congregations and agencies are together one church, ‘engaging people with God’s love in everyday life’ as our charter states.
Is your congregation thinking of applying for a Mission Stimulus Grant? If so, can you please let us know as we’ll soon need to make plans for the assessment process.

Remember the LCAQD Lutheran Services Lenten Appeal, for the benefit of Mary and Martha’s refuge, and hospital chaplaincy.
And as we fix our eyes on the cross: ‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ Romans 15:13
